January – February 2008

Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

Thank you for praying for us. Our hearts are overflowing with praise and thankfulness to our God as we continue to trust Him to do immeasurably more than we can ask or dream of. We indeed experience God's grace and guidance during the past weeks as we were very busy to do the ground work for outreaches and projects that will take place soon. We thank the Lord that we can be part of a vast army of people around the world – to be co-laborers, proclaiming the Good News to a lost world. Praise God for His people's involvement in missions around the world, and especially with us here in South Africa . Our vision and prayer is that God may use us to lead many lost souls to Jesus Christ.

We want to share with you some highlights of the work God has done through our ministry over the past two months.

MALALA , VENDA ( Limpopo Province , South Africa )

Thanks for your prayers for upcoming outreach and for the people of Malala , Venda . The chief of the village has favored the church, and granted a big piece of land for the church building to be erected. We visited the church on Sunday Jan 27 th , to explore the church site. The steel frame was erected, and foundations built out during the week of March 6 to 16 th .

The congregation in Malala met every Sunday for worship in a very small “spaza” shop in the village. Hennie preached during the morning service and we glorified the wonderful Name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Bro Donald is the leader of the church, which is a daughter church of Ngwenani Baptist church. They are looking forward with great anticipation to the construction of the church building during April 2008, and also for the short-term mission team that will be coming from FBC Festus, MO. The team will do Evangelism, Discipleship in the village and to help with the construction of the church building.

COROMANDEL, Lydenburg ( Mpumalanga Province , South Africa )

It is a great challenge to fix the damaged steel frame of the church building in Coromandel. Please pray for Hennie that God may grant him wisdom as this is a very difficult and challenging situation. The steel frame was erected by private company a few years ago and fell down after a bad wind storm.

Pastor Lucas Mashegoane from the churches in Burgersfort area asked us to help. We believe that only by God's grace it can be done. Another problem was to find a short-term mission team to sponsor the project and also to come and assist with the construction of the building. God provided in His own time and we praise God for Ken & MaryBeth Huff from FBC Lake Jackson, Texas who will be leading a construction team during July 2008 to help the church in Coromandel. God is faithful and we believe it is through much prayer that this will be accomplished.

Hennie went a week ago to load the damaged steel and he will work on it during the following weeks to repair. We plan to go back in May 2008 to erect the steel structure and to build the foundations.

KGOBAPARK, Polokwane ( Limpopo Province , South Africa )

The fist church building project that we've done in 1989 in partnership with Pro Missions (Dr Jimmy Ervin) and short-term mission teams from the USA was with Pastor Sam Lamola in the Moletjie district. 98 Church buildings have been built in SA since then. It is a blessing to work with Pastor Sam, who is overseeing several congregations. Kgobapark will be the seventh church that we will be built in partnership with their ministry. Since December 2007, we erect the steel frame, built out the foundations and cement slab for the floor poured. The short-term mission team from First Baptist Church Milan, Tn and West JacksonBC , Jackson , Tn will arrive on May 30 th , 2008 to come to finish the building project and to assist with evangelism and discipleship in the village. Hennie preached on Sunday morning, Feb. 24 th the service that was held in a small tent on the church site. There are great excitement and praises to God for His provision. Kgobapark is a newly developed area situated close to hospital, and schools. Many new people are moving into this village and it is a great opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them.

GAPHAGO, Polokwane ( Limpopo Province , South Africa )

Since December 2007, the steel frame was erected, foundations built out and cement slab for floor poured, of the church building in Gaphago.

Mr Charles Collins, Calvary BC , will lead the short-term team that will be coming during June 2008 to help with the building of the church.

Our co-worker, Solly Makhafola, assisted Hennie with the building projects. Members in the congregation were hired to help with the building. A lot of work went into the project so far to get it ready before the team will be arriving in June. We all worked hard to finish the work during the past two months. Our grandson, Jaco, also helped to off-load cement.

Lusaka , Zambia

God is greatly at work in Zambia . Hennie visited Evangelist Anastasius Mutale in Lusaka , Zambia from February 6-10 th . The highlight of the trip was my meeting with more than 20 pastors and leaders of ministries who came together on short notice.  During that meeting we discussed their need for an evangelistic outreach and discipleship teaching and how we can assist them in that.   To be effective to do this ministry will not be to have an evangelistic outreach at one place, but to have a team that can split up to go to ten different places every day. They requested that we can bring a team of pastors and evangelists that can work with each one of these local pastors in Zambia .   We also visit the prison ministry where Hennie preached and more than 200 prisoners respond on the invitation to receive Christ. There is great needs to assist HIV/Aids Christian care group in Kanyama, a suburb of Lusaka .  They visited the Orphan children who are hosted in a widow's house in Chawama.   There are about 36 children who are in need of food and school fees.   Bro Mutale has a wonderful ministry over the past twenty years and need a lot of prayer and support to be able to Evangelize the lost, and Disciple the believers.

YOUTH FOR CHRIST, Bethel , XaiXai ( Mozambique )

In January Hennie replaced the three-wheeler's gearbox. We renamed it, “Lazarus”, as it seems to be raised from the dead after standing now for quite a while. It is always a blessing to spend time with Mark & Les Harper, director of the YFC Camping grounds. They are doing a great work among the children and youth of Mozambique . Volunteers areneeded to help with the finishing of the Bethel Youth Camp Project. Please keep them in your prayers.

Leadership Development Center ( Maputo , Mozambique )

It is always a blessing to visit pastor Isaias Uaene, Director of CDL. We are so encouraged by his vision and passion to see leaders trained for ministry. We count it a privilege to be partners with them, and share in their vision to equip leaders for the church in Mozambique . Therefore we want to commend this training facility to you as they are in need of your prayers and financial support.
